Discover extends partnership with NHL to become official bank

Discover Financial Services said it has extended its multi-year partnership with the National Hockey League, which expands upon the existing sponsorship relationship to make Discover the official bank of the NHL in the U.S. 

Discover had already been the official credit card of the NHL. Discover will also become the title partner of NBC’s Hockey Day in America, which features a triple header on Feb. 16, 2020, including the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Detroit Red Wings, the New York Rangers vs. Boston Bruins and the Nashville Predators vs. the St. Louis Blues. 

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the NHL to deliver unique experiences to hockey’s passionate fan base while helping consumers achieve a brighter financial future,” Ryan Scully, senior vice president of brand, media and consumer insights at Discover, said in a company release. “By renewing our partnership and becoming the official credit card and bank of the NHL, we have even more opportunities to highlight the impact of hockey in people’s lives.”
